I have a 1998 Ford ZX2 & all of a sudden in the last 2 months, the acceleration has has greatly diminished.

The car has a manual transmission and I have always been able to drop down a gear to pass people.

Now, sometimes when I hit the gas, the RPMs go through the roof but the car won't move.

I have no problem shifting.  I don't believe that it is the clutch and I had the transmission fluid changed about a month ago.  I even got some fuel injection cleaner about a week ago.

Could that be the problem?

Shortly after that was added the pickup went down the drain.

Anyone have any ideas???
