My 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport has dashboard gauges and airbag lights that intermittently stop working.

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport that I have owned since it was brand new.  The first week, I noticed there was a problem with the control panel; i.e., every so often the "airbag" light would come on and all the gauges (speedometer, gas temperature, oil) would stop working and be stuck at zero.

I went to three different Jeep dealers who told me they had fixed the problem, but to this day it is still broken.

I wonder if other Jeep owners have had similar problems?  I know there was a recall on airbag modules for this model Jeep, which I also had fixed.

To whom it may concern,

I own a 1998 Jeep Wrangler that I bought used - in excellent condition - with 40,000 actual miles. I too have been experiencing the same problems with intermittent failure of the instrument panel gauges on my Jeep.

And yes, the AIR BAG light always comes on when the failure occurs.

This only recently started happening and it doesn't seem to be tied to anything in particular that I'm doing at the time ( i.e.: turn signals / tilt wheel, etc. ).

I was thinking about taking mine to the dealer but am having second thoughts now that I found your statement in my search for answers.

Have others contacted you regarding this?  Any info you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
