Last year I opened a GM Card account operated by Household Financial & have since been hit with fees.

After a few months my balance was $750 dollars.  I made $100 per month payments -- well above the minimum amount due.  I never received my 4th statement.  I sent my $100 payment in regardless two weeks before the due date.

When my 5th statement was received there was a $29 late fee even though Household Financial cashed the check 5 days before the due date.

Their customer service refused to admit their errors and wouldn’t reverse the charge.  I decided I would pay off the card and close the account.  To make sure they received my payment, I paid the remaining balance online.

On my next statement I was hit with a $5 convenience fee for making my payment online.  I called Household again and was told if I closed my account I would be charged $60 for closing the account early.

My cardmember agreement made no mention of either of these fees.  I called Household Financial’s business office, not their call center.  The lady I spoke with said the $60 "account closure" fee applied to those who paid off their balances "in a substantially accelerated manner."  This new condition was just enacted and I would receive the notice with my next statement.

BEWARE!  Household Financial does the "in store" credit for many other companies.  Their methods are shady.
