My reason is:
I recently sent a payment to Best Buy as it was due and I
accidentally put my rent check of over $400.00 made out to the mobile home park where I
reside.
When I realized what I had done the day after mailing the
payment, I called Best Buy customer service and was told they would not return the check
but apply it to my account. And, if I put a stop payment on the check, they would
charge me $25.00.
I am outraged that they can cash a check that is not made out
to them. I am a retired widow living on a fixed income and simply do not have the
funds to have over $800.00 taken out of my checking account like that.
I had to stop payment on the check at my bank and pay a stop
payment charge to them also. In addition, the two people I spoke to were very abrupt
to the point of being rude. In the conversations I was told Best Buy could legally
do this. It does not seem at all right to me. If this their way and policy of
dealing with an honest mistake, they are certainly a company I will not be buying from in
the future and will be telling anyone I encounter who might be considering a purchase from
them about my experience.
I sincerely hope my letter reaches the eyes of someone who
has the authority to do something for the customers when this happens... and if it ever
happens to anyone else.
