We briefly tried out AOL's supposed "DSL" service.  After hardware failures, we canceled, but their DSL billings continued.

After one modem fried and they sent us a second one, which after a couple of months fried our computer, we terminated the DSL service and returned the modem to them.

We received an e-mail from AOL confirming receipt of the modem.

However, they continued to charge our Visa card $31.05 every month, which we then had to dispute with the credit card company each month.

Next thing we know, when the credit card company issued us a credit for all of the inappropriate DSL service monthly charges (we were still paying each month for dial up service), AOL basically locks down our email -- with no notice to us -- so that we cannot access it.

WARNING:  AOL is NOT customer-service oriented and indeed their behavior during the entire dispute has been arrogant.

To AOL:  There are a lot of other ISP's out there... you should improve your customer service attitude... after all, we keep you in business, not the other way around!
